No expectations from General Budget: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar - Daily News & Analysis

 Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said he has no expectations from the General Budget proposals for fiscal 2013-14, as he is quite disappointed by the Railway Budget proposals that were tabled in Parliament yesterday.

Kumar said he would comment on the General Budget only after it is presented.

"I will talk about it tomorrow. Why to have expectations now? We expected a lot in the rail budget, but nothing got fulfilled. So, we are not hoping anything now. When it will come, then we will see it. You get disappointed when you have lots of expectations," he told media in Patna.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram tabled the Economic Survey 2012-13 in Parliament on Wednesday.

The Economic Survey is customarily tabled in Parliament by the Finance Minister a day before the General Budget for the coming fiscal year.

The document serves as an indicator of what is likely to be contained in the General Budget proposals.

The Railway Budget for 2013-14 presented in Parliament on Tuesday by Railways Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal spared the passengers from any further hike in fares, but raised various other charges on tickets along with freight tariff of less than five percent.

Bansal, who presented his maiden Railway Budget in the Lok Sabha, said he does not intend to pass on the impact of deregulation of diesel price for now and the Railways will absorb a burden of Rs 850 crore on account of this.
