Punjab farmers can now sell produce directly to parties - Times of India

CHANDIGARH: Farmers in Punjab will have an option to either directly sell their produce to parties including Food Corporation of India (FCI) or to sell it through "Arthiyas" (commission agents).

A formal communication regarding a state government decision to provide this option was submitted before the Punjab and Haryana high court by the state government's counsel on Thursday during the hearing of an ongoing petition on the issue, filed by an association of farmers, against the Punjab government's rules depriving them of options in selling their produce.

As of now, farmers in Punjab are not able to sell directly to purchasers, FCI or any other party. They had to sell their produce through Arthiyas only.
