The Cabinet secretary is examining if there is a need for a re-look into the foreign direct investment (FDI) policy for the civil aviation sector in the wake of security concerns raised by some MPs following Etihad Airways' proposal to buy a 24% stake in Jet Airways, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement. The statement intended to clear the air over the deal and a bilateral air services agreement between India and the United Arab Emirates, and said that these were "two different matters". "Being distinct issues and between different categories of entities, the two matters need to be handled separately without mixing them up," the statement said. Some MPs had alleged that Abu Dhabi received far more seats than needed under the bilateral air services agreement as the government wanted to push the Jet-Etihad deal. ![]() via Business - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNFHV_8NJ3i0wnIEmIdCiKArvMUVng&url=http://www.dnaindia.com/money/1856327/report-govt-looking-into-plea-for-review-of-fdi-in-aviation | |||
