Bangalore: A month after a 44-year-old woman was attacked inside an ATM in Bangalore, the survivor has finally been discharged. The attack has left the woman paralysed and the man responsible for it is still at large even though the incident was caught on CCTV.
Jyothi Uday Kumar, a bank officer who was brutally attacked inside an ATM in November, said she never thought her right side would be paralysed. "The doctors have taken excellent care of me. Firstly, I though it's only a head injury but I never thought my right side would be paralysed like this. It was very agonising for me."
Taken to a hospital in an extremely critical condition, Jyothi fought hard. Doctors had to treat a severely fractured skull, a partially paralysed body and perform reconstruction surgery on her face.

Jyothi Uday Kumar, a bank officer who was brutally attacked inside an ATM in November, has left her paralysed.
Dr Venkataramana, BGS Hospital, said: "Slowly she started recovering. To begin with, she had no sensation in the right hand and leg. She started recovering little by little. Sensations have come, movements have started. Today, we're extremely happy that she is getting discharged in a good state."
It will take a while for Jyothi to recover fully and get back to work. But a month after the attack, there's a little progress on the investiagtion front. With the attacker still at large, Bangalore Police has even increased the reward to Rs 5 lakh on any information on the attacker.
Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar said, "We've changed our strategy depending on some information. We're extending it to other districts also. We'll continue our efforts."
As for Jyothi, these scenes, the trauma of the attack, the hours she spent lying helplessly in this ATM is something she is trying hard to erase from her memory.
Jyothi said, "Justice should be given because nobody else should suffer what I have suffered. It's not a big task to find, especially when he was carrying a sickle and when CCTV footage is there. They should have immediately swung into action."
