You were seen as one of the frontrunners for the CEO's position. Why did you resign?
It (becoming a CEO) was not on my mind. For the last one year, I wanted to do something different. I'm looking forward to working with entrepreneurs.
What do you plan to do now?I want to focus more on the PE (private equity) space. Mohandas Pai, Girish Paranjpe, Deepak Ghaisas and I have come together to float a Rs 125-crore fund called Exfinity Fund to back entrepreneurs. I am keen to invest in technology spaces, especially new technologies like cloud, social media, mobility and analytics.
How did N R Narayana Murthy react to your decision to resign?
We had a long discussion. I have some other ideas on what I want to do in life. I have found two great mentors in Infosys - Murthy and Mohandas Pai. I have learnt a lot from them and it has been a great journey.
Murthy has been making organizational changes. How do you see the progress?
I believe Murthy is making the right changes to bring Infosys ba ck on track. He wants the company to regain its vigour and he's making changes in that direction.
Would the next CEO be an internal or an external candidate?
I don't know. It's for the Infosys Board to decide.
Do you think Rohan Murty is being groomed for the leadership role?
Murthy has clearly articulated Rohan Murty's role. He has said what he has to say on the matter.
