GoAir CEO De Roni quits after 4 years - Times of India

NEW DELHI: In a blow to Wadia Group's GoAir, the low-cost carrier's CEO Giorgio De Roni has resigned. De Roni turned around the LCC and made it profitable in the four years he spent at the top. During his tenure, GoAir ordered 72 Airbus A302 new engine options (NEOs).

Industry sources attributed GoAir's profitability to a conservative expansion approach, which helped it keep costs low.

The airline, for instance, decided to stick with a fleet size of 19, instead of raising it to 20 to be able to fly abroad. De Roni, who is quitting reportedly due to "health reasons", felt the airline should wait for the A320 NEO next year to be its 20th plane instead of inducting the relatively less fuel-efficient A320s used currently by the industry.
