"Very high enthusiasm in Berlin as the Indian community welcomes PM @narendramodi," the PM's office tweeted.
There are big crowds wherever the PM is going. People waving the Indian tricolour flags reached out to shake hands with him, with chants of "Modi, Modi" and the PM responded, holding the hands of some people and interacting with the crowds.
The PM will visit the Siemens Technical Academy and then will meet Sigmar Gabriel, Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economics and Energy, at the hotel Adlon Kempinski where he is staying, before attending a community reception hosted by the Indian Ambassador to Germany, Vijay Gokhale, also at the hotel.
All eyes are on whether PM Modi will meet Surya Bose, the grandnephew of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose. Mr Bose has said he will try to meet the Prime Minister at the dinner this evening, amid a row back in India over revelations that close relatives of Netaji Bose were spied upon.
On a two day visit to Germany, PM Modi flew out to Berlin from out of Hannover this afternoon; on the one-hour flight PM Modi tweeted, "Catching up on the news while travelling to Berlin," with a picture of him reading a newspaper.
In Hannover the PM inaugurated the world's largest trade fair on Sunday and the India Pavilion there this morning along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. India is a partner at the fair this year and 14 states are participating, competing to draw investors.
PM Modi made a strong pitch to German business today to invest in India, pushing his Make in India agenda and positioning the country as a potential manufacturing hub. "India is now a changed country... our regulatory regime is much more transparent, responsive and stable," he said at German-Indo business summit.
He promised investors that his government is working on a "war footing" to improve the business environment.
Germany, one of Europe's largest economies, is the PM's second stop on a three-nation tour. He arrived from France on Sunday and leaves tomorrow for Canada.
