Buy LPG cylinders at fuel pumps soon - Times of India

CHENNAI: Migrants or newly-married couples in the city need not worry about proof of residence or wait for the LPG cylinder delivery man to get their refills. The Union petroleum ministry will soon make available 5kg LPG cylinders in select petrol outlets at a cost of 360 to 370.

Consumers can buy them and also get refills even at odd hours, with minimum paperwork involved. The pilot project is being launched in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.

While the scheme will take off in Bangalore on October 5, it is not clear when it will be launched in Chennai and the other metros.

The LPG potability scheme, under which a consumer can switch to the company of his/her choice, will also be launched the same day. This scheme will cover 30 cities, including the metros. In Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore will be covered by this scheme.
