Deven Choksey, managing director of KR Choksey Securities, said, "We remain positive on the markets and the market is likely to remain in the 6150-6350 range."
Market analyst Sarvendra Srivastava says he remains positive on the Indian markets and Nifty could rise up to 6400 levels.
Foreign investors were net buyers of Rs 990 crore worth of shares on Friday, according to exchange data. FIIs have bought more than $517 million in equities in the last two trading sessions, even after the U.S. Fed announced last week a long-expected decision to trim its bond purchases.
Except the IT index, all other sectoral indices were trading in the green. IT stocks have seen some profit-taking today, after the previous week's rally. The BSE IT index was down nearly 0.9 per cent.
Among the frontline stocks, DLF surged 4.6 per cent, while Jindal Steel & Power was up 3.3 per cent.
State-run banks also gained on value buying: Canara Bank advanced 5.6 per cent, Union Bank of India rose 1.8 per cent and Punjab National Bank was up 3.7 percent.
Among the losers, Infosys fell 2.2 per cent on concerns over senior-level exits. Infosys has witnessed a series of senior-level exits since co-founder Narayana Murthy returned as executive chairman in June 2013. On Friday, director V. Balakrishnan, who was seen as a candidate to become the next chief executive quit. Mr Balakrishnan is the eighth senior executive to resign from Infosys in the last six months.
United Spirits was down 2.9 per cent after a court annulled sale of the Indian spirits maker to British group Diageo Plc. (With Reuters inputs)
