| Updated: Mon, Feb 25 2013. 11 01 AM IST Mumbai: The rupee opened lower on Monday, but gained subsequently against the US dollar in early trade on increased foreign fund flows amid firm local equities. The partially convertible rupee opened at 54.22 against Friday's closing of 54.185 up 0.54%. At 10.51am, the home currency was trading at 54.1175 up 0.12%. Forex dealers said euro's gains against the US dollar in the overseas market also supported the rupee. The local unit had closed higher at 54.17 against the dollar on Friday. Meanwhile, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose by 65.88 points, or 0.34%, to 19,382.89 in early trade on Monday.
