Petrol rate reduces by Rs 3.94 per litre, diesel up by 63 paise - Times of India

LUCKNOW: As against consecutive rounds of rate increase in past, the petrol rate has been reduced by Rs 3.94 in UP after a long time. The new rate has become Rs 79.23 from the earlier Rs 83.17 per litre. An increase of similar scale was made about 4-5 months ago when the petrol rate had repeatedly been increased for some time.

Dealers said the increase was a result of either currency fluctuation or some concessional deal on bulk purchase orders of crude oil from the global market. Normally oil companies buy crude oil in bulk every 15 days. "The new rate could be a result of some agreement with foreign countries over crude oil rate", speculated petroleum di stributors of the city.

Contrary to petrol, the diesel has become costlier by 63 paise, making the new rate at Rs 57.06 per litre as compared to Rs 56.43 per litre earlier.
